Example 3: Photography with Mixed Media as the Editing Process

Ars Moriendi (The Art of Dying) and Ars Dormiendi (The Art of Sleeping)

2 Series of 6 Pieces

Digital scans of mixed media on original unedited photographs

I used charcoal, ink, paint, chalk, pastel and pencil to act as the editing process on my original photos. By using handmade marks, I add a sense of expressiveness that the unedited photographs lacked. The series simultaneously comments on the physical, emotional, and philosophical process of death.
